Milena Pavlović Barilli, one of the most significant Serbian painters, was born in Požarevac on November 5, 1909, as the only child of Danica Pavlović, a descendant of Princess Sava, the eldest daughter of Karađorđe, and Bruno Barilli, an Italian composer, music critic, and poet.
The Milena Pavlović Barilli Gallery in Požarevac is an institution of exceptional cultural significance, preserving over 800 of her works, including paintings, drawings, and sketches. The permanent exhibition of this gallery provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the evolution of her artistic creation, from early impressionistic experiments to mature works that represent the pinnacle of her expression.
Milena Pavlović Barilli has not only left a mark in art history with her work but also as an icon of a free spirit and an independent mind. Her art continues to inspire and fascinate art lovers worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural heritage of Serbia and world painting.
